Mode of Action:
Mode of action: Sulfamethoxazole inhibits the enzyme dihydropteroate synthetase, which catalyzes the reduction of folic acid to dihydrofolic acid, while trimethoprim prevents the reduction of dihydrofolic acid to tetrahydrofolate by competitive inhibition of dihydrofolate reductase
