Ceftibuten is a 3rd generation oral cephalosporin that inhibits not only gram (-) bacteria but also selective gram (+) bacteria.

Mode of Action:
Ceftibuten inhibits the bacterial transpeptide enzyme which causes cell wall to swell & rupture. Ceftibuten also activates bacterial autolysin enzyme which creates osmotic differences in bacteria and causes bacterial cell lysis.
