Cranbac-D
Cranberry extract 400 mg & D-mannose 100 mg
Description:
Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) is a native North American plant commonly used for reduction in urinary tract infections (UTIs), recurrent UTI occurrence and it is also used to prevent kidney stone formation. Cranberry reduces the need for repeated antibiotic use in the treatment of recurrent urinary tract infection. Bacterial adherence to mucosal surfaces is general ly considered to be the initial event in the pathogenesis of most infectious diseases due to bacteria in human such as UTIs. Cranberry inhibits adherence of bacteria to the lining of the urinary bladder and urethra. At higher dose it also works as a urinary antiseptic and reduces incidence of stone formation. Recent publications show as much as 65% reduction in UTI with cranberry consumption leading to reduced use of antibiotics and reduction in the number of incidences of recurrent cystitis. A 2014 study in the World Journal of Urology found that D-mannose may be effective in preventing UTIs. D-mannose inhibits the uropathogenic bacteria (Escherichia coli) adherence and invasion of the uroepithelial cells. Research suggests that supplemented D-mannose could be a promising alternative or complementary remedy especially as a prophylaxis for recurrent UTIs.
