Description:
Vildagliptin is a Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. Metformin is an insulin sensitizer which belongs to biguanide class.

Indications:
Type 2 diabetes or Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus.

Mode of Action:
Vildagliptin increases circulating level of intact incretin hormones like glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) by inhibiting DPP-4 enzyme increases the sensitivity & capacity of beta cell to control blood glucose level. Metformin decreases blood glucose levels by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
