Imeg® is a preparation of Imeglimin Hydrochloride. Imeglimin is the first in a new tetrahydrotriazine containing class of oral antidiabetic agents referred to as 'glimins'. The glimins are a novel class of glucose-lowering agents that target multiple components of diabetes.

Indications:
Imeg® is used for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus as a monotherapy or add-on therapy adjunct to diet and exercise.

Mode of Action:
Imeglimin's mechanism of action involves dual effects:
(a) amplification of glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS) and preservation of ?-cell mass; and
(b) enhanced insulin action, including the potential for inhibition of hepatic glucose output and improvement in insulin signaling in both liver and skeletal muscle.
