Indications:
It is used as a topical antiseptic spray to kill bacteria, viruses, fungi, spores and protozoa. In the treatment and prevention of skin infections in wounds including ulcers, burns, cuts, abrasions and other minor injuries.

Mode of Action:
The antimicrobial effects of Povidone-Iodine relate to the presence of diatomic elemental form of iodine rather than hypophalous acid. Activity is thus significantly affected by pH and is greater under acidic condition. Action relates to an oxidative interaction with sulfhydril group of biological macromolecules such as proteins and amino acids and also directly through iodination of amino acids in proteins.
