Description:
Ciclesonide (Ciclex^®) nasal spray is used to treat the symptoms of seasonal (occurs only at certain times of the year), and perennial (occurs all year round) allergic rhinitis. These symptoms include sneezing and stuffy, runny or itchy nose. Ciclesonide is in a class of medications called corticosteroids. It works by preventing and decreasing inflammation (swelling that can cause other symptoms) in the nose.

Indications:
Treatment of Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis: Ciclesonide Nasal Spray is indicated for the treabnent of nasal symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis In adults and children 6 years of age and older. Treatment of Perennial Allergic Rhinitis: Ciclesonide Nasal Spray Is Indicated for the treatment of nasal symptoms associated with perennial allergic rhinitis in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older.

Mode of Action:
Ciclesonide is a pro-drug that is enzymatically hydrolyzed to a pharmacologically active metabolite, C21-deslsobutyryl-clclesonlda (des-Ciclasonlde or RMi) following intranasal application. Des-Ciclesonide has anti-inflammatory activity with affinity for the glucocorticoid receptor that Is 120 times higher than Ciclesonide & 12 times greater than Dexamethasone. Ciclesonide works by preventing the release of histamine, elcosanolds, leukotrlenes, and cytoklnes from respected cells (e.g. mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes) thereby blocking the allergic reactions those are Involved In allergic inflammation
